I think that explicit feedback about the accomplishment - such as solving a math problem and recognizing that they have overcome a struggle is also key. Feedback can be hollow if we are positive without recognizing the specifics of the accomplishment. Kudo's Erin on a great post!
Great points. I appreciate the info and I am not a parent. However, the connection is relevant and I appreciate the idea of asking more questions to the child such as ' what do you want to learn, how do you want to resolve this, etc. and setting aside a dedicated timeframe regardless of the time of day is key - and consistent time shows them that their thoughts and feelings are valuable.
