Happy World Kindness Day, Teachers! π
Today, I am taking a step back from my normal newsletter to post about World Kindness Day. It is a wonderful day to remind our students and ourselves about the power of small, meaningful actions. A kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or even just a smile π can make all the difference.
Let's also remember to be kind to ourselves as teachers. π We put in so much effort every day to create positive and supportive learning environments, and it's important to take a moment to appreciate our own hard work and practice self-care. Whether it's taking a short break, enjoying a cup of tea, or reflecting on the positive impact you're making, being kind to yourself is just as important.
To celebrate, consider trying some simple activities in your classrooms:
Virtual Kindness Wall π»π§±: Create a shared online document or a digital bulletin board where students can post acts of kindness they've experienced or done. This can be a great way to build a sense of community virtually.
Kindness Jar πΊ: Create a virtual kindness jar using a shared document or form where students can share kind acts they've seen. This will help students feel connected and appreciated.
Chain of Kindness βοΈ: Start a "chain of kindness" in a virtual setting by having each student add a link (e.g., a message or a slide) for every good deed they do. This can be done using collaborative tools like Google Slides.
Check out the Random Acts of Kindness website π to get free resources to use in your classroom.Β
These activities not only bring out the best in our students but also help foster a culture of empathy and understanding in an online environment. π€
Thank you for making your online classrooms places of compassion and inspiration every day. Letβs spread a little extra kindness today! π
